Muritala Abiodun Shefiu was born on 3 March 1966. Following his First School Leaving Certificate, Young Abiodun Shefiu sat and passed WAEC O/Level examination in 1983. He thereafter sought and obtained admission into Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta from where he bagged the Higher National Diploma in Accounting in 1996. In 2002, he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and followed this in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Not yet done, Muritala Abiodun Shefiu was offered admission into University of Lagos from where he earned a Master of Finance Degree in 2014. Still not satisfied, Abiodun Shefiu, completed a meritorious Ph.D in Strategic Management at Babcock University in 2019.
After a brief stint in the private sector, Muritala Abiodun Shefiu joined the Lagos State Civil Service in 1992and was immediately deployed to Surulere Local Government as Internal Auditor.In 2004, he was appointed Council Treasurer and re-deployed to Epe Local Government. He later transferred his services into the mainstream of the Civil Service and was immediately deployed to the Ministry of Youths, Sports & Social Development as Chief Accountant. In recognition of his dedication, commitment and industry, he was deployed in 2009 as Project Accountant, Lagos Metropolitan Development & Governance Project (LMDGP). The outstanding success of the World Bank assisted Project underlined the sterling qualities of this Nominee.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAN), Associate CharteredInstituteof Taxation among others, he has attended several local and international courses on financial systems strengthening. He has also participated in several international conferences.
Before his elevation into the enviable ranks of Permanent Secretary, Muritala Abiodun Shefiu was the General Manager (Finance) Lagos State Development & Property Corporation.
He is happily married with Children.
